Baroque Gardens – Nature Controlled
Kings and Noblemen liked to show their growing power over Nature. Mountains and wild landscapes were still feared rather than admired, so designers like Andre le Notre used straight lines and regular shapes in their vast Formal Gardens, to show how Godly reason and Princely power could dominate Nature.
Versailles (le Notre)
Many of our gardens use strong lines and clear geometry to provide a stylish design which draws the eye into the garden.
